BAB. I

Tari Sang Hyang

Salah satu kesenian Bali yang berakar pada kebudayaan pra-Hindu adalah tari Sang Hyang.Tari ini masih hidup sampai sekarang,kini dapat di jumpai kurang lebih dua puluh macam tari Sang Hyang,tari ini terdapat di desa-desa  pegunungan,tari ini ditarikan oleh 3 orang,dan bisa mencapai kerawuhan,ketika kerawuhan,mereka berinteraksi dengan para penonton atau Sang Hyang lainnya.Di beberapa daerah,Sang Hyang itu berbicara sebagai ”wahyu”.

Sang Hyang itu menari sesuai dengan gerak roh yang memasukinya.Keanekaragaman wujud gerak tari Sang Hyang ytergantung pula dari jenis dan lokasinya.Jenis-jenis tari Sang Hyang meliputi Sang Hyang Dedari,Sang Hyang Jaran,Sang Hyang celeng,Sang Hyang celeng,Sang Hyang Lelipi,Sang Hyang Bojog,Sang Hyang penyalin,Sang Hyang Deling,Sang Hyang Kuluk,Sang Hyang Sampat,Sang Hyang Penyu,Sang Hyang Sembe,Sang Hyang Memedi,dan lainnya.

Sang Hyang Dedari merupakan salah satu tari Sang Hyang yang terkenal di Bali,walaupun unsur-unsur budaya Hindu hanya sedikit berpengaruh dalam tarian ini.Tarian inimerupakan perwujudan utama dari masyarakat komunal dan memiliki unsure budaya yang sangat unik.

Dalam hal ini,penari di pilih dari anak-anak perempuan berumur antara 9 dan 12 tahun.Empat atau lima diantara mereka bertugas sebagai penari Sang Hyang,biasanya mereka berasal dari keluarga pemangku atau pemimpin upacara dalam agama Hindu,telah menjadi kebiasaan bahwa penari Sang Hyang memilih penggantinya sebelum berhenti mengabdi.Sebelum menjadi Sang Hyang,mereka telah tanggap dengan tari-tarian di sekelilingnya.

Sudah menjadi kebiasaan bahwa Sang Hyang Dedari merupakan milik sebuah pura atau tempat persembahyangan dan penari-penari itu amat taat dengan kewajiban mereka sebagai abdi di pura tersebut.

Wanita-wanita itu dilarang berkata kasar,bekerja yang bersifat profan,dan tidak boleh berjalan di bawah tali jemuran,penari itu bertugas untuk membantu pemangku,menyapu halaman pura,mempelajari lagu sakral seperti lagu Sang Hyang dan kidung.Tari Sang Hyang di pentaskan jika di perlukan,khususnya pada saat berjangkitnya wabah penyakit.Tari Sang Hyang di pertunjukan pada malam hari dimulai dari jeroan pura,tempat paling sakral dari tempat persembahyangan.

Bagian pertama disebut penudusan,selama periode ini para leluhur diundang untuk turun ke bumi,sementara para penari menghirup wangi-wangian kemenyan,mereka duduk bersimpuh di hadapan pemangku yang sedang mempersembahkan sesajen pada para leluhur yang diundang turun,pemangku tadi juga mengawasipasepan api yang telah di sediakan sebelumnya,penyanyi wanita menyanikan lagu-lagu Sang Hyang dengan khidmat sehingga membuat suasana yang mendorong turunnya para leluhur.Tari ini juga di pertunjukan di Kintamani,diragakan dengan sebuah pratima(boneka) yang di gantung di hadapan wanita.Sang Hyang itu menari karena getaran dari boneka tersebut slama penudusan.

Jika para leluhur turun,maka penari Sang Hyang akan kerawuhan.Kemudian pemangku akan meminta mereka berbicara.Mereka menguraikan preskripsi obat-obatan untuk mengusir wabah penyakit.Bahan obat-obatannya terdiri dari daun-daunan,akar-akaran,kulit kayu,beras,rumput atau tumbuh-tumbuhan yang sejenis.Penari Sang Hyang akan membagikan gelang yang harus dipakai selama wabah masih berjangkit.Gelang itu berupaa benang dan koin gepeng.Air suci uga disediakan untuk di berikan kepada seluruh masyarakat.

Jika penari sudah kerawuhan,maka penyanyi wanita akan berhenti dan di gantikan oleh pria yang disebut Cak.Api tersedia di depan penari,lalu penari akan meloncat ke atas bara api itu dalam keadaan kaki telanja.Jika memang dalam keadaan kerawuhan maka penari itu tidak akan merasakan sakit.Penari itu menari dengan gerak lemah gemulai dan penuh improvisasi,dengan di iringi seperangkat  gamelan Semarpegulingan.Gamelan tersebut terletak di jaba pura.Tari kerawuhan yang erdapat pada tari Sang Hyang akhirnya menerima unsur tari Legong.

Dipimpin oleh pemangku,para penyungsung Sang Hyang meninggalkan halaman pura,dan berpindah ke jalan raya.Para penari d usung ke tempat penting untuk d kunjungi.Para penari melakukan gerak menghalau wabah yang di sebabkan oleh buta kala,setelah selesai maka penari akan dibawa kembali ketempat gamelan.

 

 

 

 

 

 

BAB II

DRAMA TARI GAMBUH

Salah satu warisan budaya bali yang amat mengesankan adalah Gambuh.Ini merupakan drama tari paling tua dan dianggap sebagai sumber drama tari bali.Di dalam gambuh kia masih bsa meliha tersimpannya tata cara dan ide-ide kebudayaan majapahit dan kehidupan budaya yang tinggi daari kerajaan Bali pada abad ke-14 sampai ke-16.Gambuh merupakan warisan drama tari yang di pentasakan dalam majapahit dan Bali dari tahun 1343 sampai abad ke-16.Di dalam karya-karya literer yang menggambarkan kehidupan raja-raja pada saat itu.

Secara keseluruhan ,Gambuh telah di ayomi murni dari tahun ke tahun,namun dalam pengayoman tersebut drama tari sudah “dibalinisikan”.Hal yang paling mengesankan terlihat pada wujud gerak tari.Ini tampak pada perbendaharaan gerak tari Bali asli yang dapat digabungkan dengan gerak tari Hindu Jawa,misalnya seledet (gerakan mata) gerakan mata merupakan ciri khas tari Bali pada zaman pra-Hindu yang tidak terdapat dalam tarian Jawa.Tari-tarian Bali pada zaman pra-Hindu hanya mempergunakan formasi dan lingkarkan sederhana,dengan improvisasi tinggi,serta masih memegang teguh ide pokok persembahan kepada  para leluhur.

Musik merupakan bagian utama Gambuh.Berfungsi untuk menggaris bawahi mood,penonjolan dramatisi,dan perwatakan.Lagu-lagu pegambuhan diduga merupakan musik klasik tertua di Bali dan mempengaruhi komposisi-komposisi gending yang dipergunakan oleh kebanyakan music pengiring tari di Bali.Lagu-lagu iu terlihat pada gamelan gong yang mengiringi tari Legong dan Barong.Gamelan gong kebyar yang mengiringi tari kebyar dan sebagainya,yang memiliki dasar-dasar yang jelas,bersumber dari melodi dan struktur musik pegambuhan.Gambuh biasanya di pentaskan baik siang maupun malam,dan pegelarannya selalu berhubungan dengan upacara keagamaan.

Repotoar Gambuh berdasarkan cerita Panji,cerita roman yang memiliki berbagai versi.Pergelaran Gambuh tidak memperdulikan plot,ada saja yang dipergunakan dalam suatu episode.Setiap tokoh utama yang paling penting ialah pegunem atau adegan pertemuan.Sebuah pertunukan Gambuh yang sempurna biasanya memakai tiga atau empat peginem : pengipuk,tetangisan,dan pesiat (adegan perang biasanya mengakhiri pergelaran itu).Tokoh-tokoh dalam Gambuh dapat dibagi menjadi dua,yaitu tokoh manis atau halus dan tokoh keras atau kasar.Kostum di bedakan menjadi dua jenis yaitu kostum untuk penari pria dan penari wanita,kostum di buat sejenis,baik untuk tokoh manis maupun untuk tokoh keras,dan mencerminkan,elemen kebudayaan Bali asli,namun tidak mencerminkan suatu periode tertentu.

Seperti beberapa kasus yang lain,Gambuh telah mengalami beberapa periode historis,popular atau kurang popular di dalam masyarakat Bali.Berdasarkan peneltian tahun 1930-an,penulis-penulis kenamaan dari Eropa dan Amerika menyatakan bahwa Gambuh sudah hampir punah dan dipertunjukan tanpa rasa antusias hanya beberapa desa yang memilikinya.Pada tahun 1973 tercatat sebelas grup gambuh yang aktif mengadakan pementasan.Gambuh telah menjadi bagian kurikulum ASTI,Akademi Seni Tari Indonesia.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

BAB III

TARI LEGONG

Tari Legong,yang di pertunjukan oleh dua atau tiga anak perempuan berumur sekitar sepuluh tahun,merupakan tarian klasik yang paling dikenal oleh orang barat diantara berbagai jenis variasi tarian Bali.sampai sekarang tari Legong belum pernah di uraikan secara teknis dan di-analis berdasarkan ilmu pengetahuan modern.Akan tetapi Beryl de Zoete and Walter Spesies dan Miguel Covarrubias perbah menulis deskripsi yang bagus tentang tari tersebut.Colin McPhee menulis musik tari Legong secara terperinci.Ada juga sebuah film,berjudul Miracle of Bali yang menampilkan tarian tersebut.

Kita tidak pernah menjumpai kata “Legong” dalam catatan-catatan kuno diduga kata ini berasal dari akar kata leg, yang berarti “gerak luwes” atau elastis yang merupakan cirri pokok tari Legong.Adapun kata gong berarti instrument pengiringnya .Kata tersebut ditambahkan sekitar 250 tahun yang lalu ketika tari Legong diciptakan. Hanya karena pengaruh Gambuh ,elemen cerita masuk kedalam tari Bali.Khususnya Legong,cerita yang paling umum dipakai sebagai lasem yang langsung bersumber dari cerita Panji.Kenyataannya orang tidak dapat mengerti tari Legong tanpa mendengarkan dialog dari uru tandak,penyanyi pria yang duduk di tengah-tengah gamelan.

Menurut Babad Dalem Sukawati,sebuah riwayat tua desa Sukawati,Gianyar,tari Legong diciptakan berdasarkan mimpi I Dewa Agung Made Karna,raja Sukawati.Dalam semadinya beliau bermimpi melihat bidadari sedang menari di surga.Mereka menari dengan begitu indah dengan memakai hiasan kepala dari emas.

Ketika sadar dari mimpinya,beliau memerintahkan kepada Bendesa Ketewel untuk membuat beberapa topeng dan menciptakan tarian yang mirip dengan mimpinya.tidak lama setelah itu,Bendesa Ketewel berhasil membuat sembilan buah topeng sakral yang mencerminkan sembilan orang bidadari dari kebudayaan Hindu.Topeng-topeng itu masih terpelihara sampai sekarang dan di pertunjukan setiap enam bulan sekali pada hari Buda Keliwon Pagerwesi di halaman Pura Jogan Agung Ketewel.

Sampai seauh ini memang belum bisa di pastikan kapan sesungguhnya tari Legong itu diciptakan.I Gusti Gede Raka,seorang guru Legong di daerah desa Saba,mengatakan bahwa Legong telah di kenal di desannya sejak tahun 1811 M.Ungkapan ini sesuai dengan Babad Dalem Sukawati bahwa Legong diciptakan kira-kira pada permulaan abad ke-19.Tari Legong masih erat hubungannya dengan agama,baix dari segi sejarah maupun pertunjukannya.Nilai keagamaan dan kepercayaan yang di asosiakan dengan tari Legong ialah kebudayaan Kraton Hindu Jawa.Sejak abad ke-19 tampak ada pergeseran Legong berpindah dari istana ke desa.Pengaruh istana makin lama makin melemah sejak jatuhnnya Bali ke Belanda pada 1906-1908 M.

Orang Bali memelihara Legong dengan sangat baik sehingga tari itu berkembang sangat cepat ke seluruh Bali.Sudah semestinya Legong di pengaruhi oleh gaya populer yang lain,terutama pada zaman renaisans kebudayaan Bali,yaitu sekitar tahun 1920-1930-an.Pengaruh terbesar berasal dari gaya kebyar yang muncul di Bali utara pada 1914,kemudian tersebar luas ke seluruh Bali.

Pada 1932,Ida Bagus Boda dari Negara Sukawati menyempurnakan lagi tari Condong dalam kebyar dengan menambahkan gerakan Sang Hyang dan gerakan alam,seperti gelatik nuwut papah,dan capung mandus.karakter Condong diberi peranan yang lebih aktif,dari menyerahkan kipas kepada kedua Legong itu sampai menjadi burung gagak pada akhir cerita lasem.bersamaan dengan diaktifkannya fungsi Condong,struktur Legong di perpendek,dengan dihilangkannya pengawak,pengecet,dan pangkat.Ini disebabkan oleh turis yang menyaksikan dengan waktu yang  amat singkat.Walter Spies pada 1938 telah memperhatikan banyak turis yang datang ke Bali,khususnya Gianyar.Ia menyatakan bahwa ada pengaruh positif dan negatif.

Tari Legong klasik selama ini masih terpelihara di desa Benoh dan Teges.Adapun Legong modern tumbuh menjamur di daerah Bali.Tari-tarian baru yang elemen tarinya diambil dari Legong tentu dapat dijadikan satu karangan tersendiri,dan sendratari Ramayanan yang populer itu merupakan satu contoh saja.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

BAB IV

TARI JOGED

Berapa jenis tari Joged memiliki sejarah yang amat penting dalam khazanah perkembangan tari Bali.Ditinjau dari segi etimologi,Joged merupakan kata Nusantara yang berate”tari”(dalam hal ini penari wanita).Ngibing merupakan bagian dari Joged yang penuh dengan improvisasi.Disitu para penari menunjukan nafsu yang berlebihan.Itulah ciri khas Joged sejak zaman lampau.Kesenian ini terpelihara baik sebelum zaman penjajahan Bali.

Ilmuwan Belanda yang bernama Van Eck pernah menulis tentang tari rakyat Bali pada 1880.Pada masa lampau para pengibing di wajibkan membayar dengan uang atau benda yang cukup besar.Padaa zaman kerajaan Bali,Joged dimiliki oleh raja-raja dan para bangsawan.Setelah Belanda mengambil alih kekuasaan di pulau Bali,sejak saat itu para raja tidak memiliki tari Joged.Tari Joged pada saat ini lebih menjadi milik masyarakat dari pada perorangan.

  1. Leko

Tari Joged Leko berhubungan erat dengan tari Legong.Tari ini di pertunjukan oleh dua orang perempuan berumur sepuluh tahun sampai empat belas tahun,dan biasanya mereka telah mampu mempertunjukan beberapa jenis tarian Legong.Disamping sebagai hiburan,Leko juga di pentaskan untuk upacara mesesangi atau upacara kaul.Tari Leko diiringi oleh gamelan semarpegulingan,suara gamelan ini sangat manis dan sesuai dengan tari Leko.

Dalam mengiringi tari Leko,instrumen trompong selalu di pakai,sedangkan pada Legong instrument ini tidak di pakai.Dengan mempergunakan trompong,para penabuh bebas memainkan lagu-lagu yang memakai pamero yang memiliki watak tujuh nada,setelah ibing-ibingan berlangsung hingga 30 sampai 40 menit,akhirnya kedua penari Leko itu mengakhiri pertunjukan.

  1. JOGED GUDEGAN

Joged Gudegan muncul dalam masyarakat Bali dengan sebutan yang berbeda-beda.Di desa Sukawati,Kabupaten Gianyar,oged ini disebut Joged pingitan,sedangkan di klungkung Joged ini dinamakan Joged Tongkohan.Semua jenis tarian ini berasal dari Joged privat yang dimiliki oleh para raja pada zaman kerajaan Bali.Tari ini dipentaskan oleh wanita yang berumur 17-20 tahun,Joged ini di iringi oleh gambelan bambo berlaras pelog yang disebut dengan Rindik.

Seperti tampak pada tari Leko,bagian pertama Joged Gudengan mengadaptasi tari Legong.Di desa Sukawati tarian ini memakai lasem,sedangkan di desa Singapadu disebut Calonarang.Belakangan ini masyarakat setempat telah merekonstruksi kesenian itub dengan penari Joged terkenal almarhum I Made Kredek.

Kata pingit berarti privat,dan kiranya tidak terlalu menyimpang bahwa I Made Kredek telah mengartikannya sebagai “privat”,bukan sebagai “sakral” seperti yang telah di tafsirkan oleh seniman di Singapadu,karena pada zaman lampau orang yang menjadi Joged harus dipingit dan dijadikan abdi raja.Dalam hal ini Joged Pingitan diartikan sebagai Joged privat milik sang penguasa.

  1. ADAR

Adar merupakan jenis kesenian yang hampir punah.Tidak satupun sekehe-sekehe yang menampilkan.Pada masa lampau sekehe Adar biasanya terdapat di Kediri,Selingsing,dan Gebug daerah Tabanan.Kendati demikian,pada saat ini ada penari Adar yang masih hidup dari tahun 1930 yang dapat memberikan informasi untuk penulisan ini.

Pertunjukan tari Adar mengambil tempat pada sebuah jalan di muka balai banjar.Setelah menari tunggal sejenak dengan improvisasi,penari Adar mencari pasangan untuk menari bersama.Setelah menari 10-12 menit,mereka berdua pergi meninggalkan pentas dan mencari tempat yang sepi untuk menerusakan drama tari Adar.

Pertunjukan Adar biasanya berakhir pada jam 2 sampai jam 3 pagi,dan biasanya dana itu sudah cukup untuk dana kemasyarakat dansebagian untuk dibagikan kepada anggota kumpulannya.Adar memakai busana yang sederhana sesuai dengan pakaian trdisional Bali.

 

  1. GANDRUNG

Ditinjau dari segi etimologi,kata Gandrung berarti ”cinta” atau “rindu”.Kata ini mengandung makna erotik pada seni pertunjyukan Gandrung.Tari Gandrung biasanya di pentaskan untuk upacara perkawinan,tari ini juga merupakan perlambangan kesuburan dan dapat mengakibatkan cinta birahi.

Di Bali terdapat beberapa grup yang masih aktif,diantaranya di Tapian kaja,Denpasar,dan Pakuwudan,Gianyar.Disana tari Gandrung dilakukan oleh penari wanita,karena itulah juga disebut Joged Pingitan dan Gudegan.

Menurut keterangan seniman I Ketut Rindh,Gndrung sudah ada di Bali pada permulaan abad ke-19 pada pemerintahan I Dewa Agung Anom di pura Sukawati.Semula Gandrung hanya dilakukan dengan tari Gandrungan.Akan tetapi,kini telah mengikuti pola-pola Legong dan mengambil tema-tema Lasem dan Kupu-Kupu Tarum.Dan busananya sama seperti Legong sekarang.

  1. JOGED BUMBUNG

Bumbung berarti “tabung” (tabung),sebuah istilah untuk member nama seperangkat gamelan Joged.Joged Bumbung adalah sebuah tari pergaulan yang memiliki unsure social yang tinggi.Dibandingkan dengan Joged yang lain.Joged Bumbung biasanya di pertunjukan oleh empat atau enam orang penari dan tampil di pentas satu per satu.Sejak semula gerak-gerak tarinyaz merupakan gerak improvisasi yang erotis.Adapun busana yang di gunakan dalam Joged Bumbung sangat sederhana meliputi kain batik,baju kebaya,dan selendang.

Disamping itu beberapa jenis tari Joged yang yelah di uraikan,masih ada beberapa macam tari yang memiliki karakter yang mirip dengan tari-tari tersebut,yaitu tari Gebyong dan Abuang Kalah,kendati kedua tari ini masih lebih mementingkan ritualnya.Akan tetapi,sebagai tarian social kedua tari tersebut juga memiliki unsur yang sama dengan tari-tari Joged yang lain.Unsur tersebut ialah ibing-ibingan,yang tampaknya menjadi unsur utama dalam tari social di Pulau Bali.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

BAB V

SENDRATARI RAMAYANA DAN MAHABRATA

Sendratari merupakan singkatan dari “seni,drama,dan tari.Di Indonesia,istilah sendratari dipakai untuk menggantikan kata “balet”.Ide  untuk mencetuskan sendratari di Indonesia di ajukan oleh Letnan Jendral G.P.H. Djati Kusumo pada 1961.Sendratari pertama yang di ciptakan adalah Ramayana,yang di pentaskan pada panggung terbuka Candi Roro Jongrang (prambanan).Di Bali sendratari pertama di pertunjukan pada 30 September 1962,yaitui pada hari ulang tahun pertama Konservatori Kerawitan Indonesia,Denpasar.

Sendratari pertama yang dipertunjukan di Bali adalah sendratari Jayaprana,gubahan I Wayan Beratha.Kendati untuk pertamakalinya sendratari di Bali muncul pada 1962,jauh sebelum itu orang-orang telah mengenal bentuk sendratari yang lebih tua,yaitu Legong Kraton.Diduga sendratari ini muncul pada masa pemerintahan Dalem Waturenggong pada abad ke-16 dan mencapai ketenaran pada awal abad ke-19.

Legong Kraton hanya di pentaskan oleh tiga orang dan kurang menyajikan gerak-gerak berarti.Sendratari Jayaprana diciptakan oada tahun 1962,menyusul sendratari Ramayana tahun 1965,sendratari Mayadenawa tahun 1966,sendratari Rajapala tahun 1967,dab sendratari Arjuna wiwaha tahun 1970.Semua sendratari tersebut adalah gubahan I Wayan Beratha,dibantu guru-guru SMKI lainnya,seperti I Made Bandem dan I Nyoman Sumadhi.

  1. PEMENTASAN KOLOSAL

Ketika pertamakali panggung terbuka Ardha Candra tahun 1977 digunakan untuk mengadakan pementasan tari Bali,muncullah berbagai tanggapan yang kurang memuaskan dari para budayawan dan pengamat seni pulau ini.Ardha Candra adalah sebuah panggung terbuka yang berbentuk thrust stage (tapal kuda).Luas Ardha Candra mencapai 240 m2,dengan ukuran panjang 20 m dan lebar 12 m.Ardha Candra memiliki kapasitas penonton sekitar 6.000 orang.Pada tingkat bawah panggung ini tersedia dua ruang rias yang cukup luas dan mampu menampung sekitar 200 orang penari.

Sendratari Mahabrata dan Ramayana yang semula dicetuskan pada pesta kesenian Bali tahun 1979 dan penggarapannya dilakukan secara kolosal ternyata merupakan awal perubahan baru dalam tari Bali.

  1. SKENARIO (PAKEM)

Sampai saat ini pementasan drama tari Bali seperti Gambuh,Topeng Panca,dan  Wayang Wong tidak pernah menggunakan play script atau scenario lengkap seperti yang digunakan dalam drama atau teater modern.Lakon ebuah pementasan biasanya di tuturkan oleh seorang sutradara.Dalam pementasan drama tari Bali seperti itu disebut ngadungang lampahan,menyusun skenario secara lisan ,dan unit-unit skenario itu di teruskan kepada pemeran masing-masing.

Proses penyusunan skenario itu di mulai dari penyusunan sinopsis cerita,pembabakan cerita,penampilan tokoh,suasana iringan,serta memasukan aspek dramatis lainnya seperti peranan lampu dan lain-lainnya.Skenario yang telah di susun oleh tim itu di bagikan kepada para penggarap sendratari,termasuk para penari,penabuh,penata panggung,dan dalangnya sendiri.

  1. DHARMA PEDALANGAN

Sejak di ciptakan pada tahun 1962,sendratari-sendratari Bali sudah menggunakan dalang sebagai pengungkap cerita.Peranan dalang ini mulanya terbatas pada tandak.Akan tetapi karna sekarang berhadapan dengan panggung Ardha Candra ,peran dalang diminta lebih menonjol.Semula tari menggunakan konsep-konsep detail,kini disiasati dengan koreografi berkelompok sehingga penonton yang jauh masih dapat menikmati keindahan tarian Bali tersebut.

Gerak tari yang di butuhkan untuk mengungkap cerita adalah pantomimic,dan dalang memberikan tekanan dengan menggunakan antaacana atau dialog-dialog tertentu.Antawacana yang baik mampu memikat penonton hingga 3-4 jam dan tari-tari kelompok dengan penataan yang apik akan memberi nuansa baru kepada pertumbuhan tari Bali.

  1. GAMELAN (MUSIK PENGIRING)
