HINDU DALAM DINAMIKA BUDAYA GLOBAL
Perkembangan agama hindu diberbagai belahan dunia tidak dapat dipisahkan dengan peradaban manusia setiap periodenya, hal itu disebabkan oleh agama Hindu tumbuh dan berkembang senantiasa berintegrasi dengan budaya local yakni nilai-nilai budaya yang tumbuh di lingkungan masyarakat setempat.
Akulturasi budaya merupakan salah satu pedoman yang dipakai dalam penyebaran agama Hindu diberbagai daerah, budaya yang telah ada dilingkungan masyarakat masih diberikan tumbuh dan berkembang yang kemudian nilai-nilai tersebut diberikan legalisasi agar menjadi perpaduan yang utuh antara unsure agama dan budaya.
Perlu diketahui bahwa agam Hindu pertama kali berkembang disekitar lembah sungai sindu yakni di daerah Baratawarsa India, tepatnya di sekitar lembah sungai suci hindu. Di tempat ini para Rsi untuk pertama kalinya menerima wahyu suci secara langsung dari Brahman, yakni Tuhan Yang Maha Esa ( Ida Sang Hyang Widhi Wasa) Wahyu itu kemudian diabadikan kedalam Kitab Suci Weda.
Berikut ini ada baiknya juga disampaikan tentang ruang lingkup materi sejarah kebudayaan dari masa pra Hindu hingga sekarang diantaranya adalah sebagai berikut :
Ø Zaman Batu dan Logam
Indonesia adalah bangsa yang besar dengan sejarah kebudayaan yang sangat panjang. Menurut hasil temuan-temuan yang ada kebudayaan Indonesia sudah dimulai dari zaman batu. Berdasarkan pendapat-pendapat para ahli prehistoris, zaman batu di bagi menjadi 3 yaitu :
- Zaman batu tua (Paleolitikum)
Periode zaman ini adalah antara tahun 50.000 SM – 10.000 SM. Pada zaman ini, manusia hidup secara nomaden dalam kumpulan kecil untuk mencari makanan. Mereka memburu binatang, menangkap ikan, dan mengambil hasil hutan sebagai makanan.
- Zaman batu pertengahan (Mesolitikum)
Ketika pada zaman ini, penduduk Indonesia sudah mulai hidup dengan cara menetap dan sudah mulai bercocok tanam secara sederhana untuk memenuhi kebutuhan makanan mereka, disamping berburu hewan dan menangkap ikan. Tempat tinggal yang mereka pilih pada umumnya berlokasi di tepi pantai dan goa-goa.
- Zaman batu muda (Neolitikum)
Zaman batu muda (Neolitikum) benar-benar membawa revolusi dalam kehidupan manusia. Pada zaman ini mereka telah hidup menetap, membuat rumah, membentuk kelompok masyarakat desa, bertani dan beternak untuk memenuhi kebutuhan hidup.
Setelah masa Neolitikum, kemudian kebudayaan Indonesia berlanjut kemasa zaman logam. Hal ini ditandai dengan dikenalnya dengan tehnik untuk mengecor/mencairkan logam dari biji besi dan menuangkan kedalam cetakkan-cetakkan serta mendinginkannya.
v Kebudayaan Hindu dan Budha
Berkat hubungan dagang dengan Negara-negara tetangga maupun dengan yang lebih jauh seperti India, Tiongkok, dan Wilayah timur tengah di Indonesia pun mulai berkembang kerajaan-kerajaan Hindu dan Budha. Agama hindu masuk ke Indonesia diperkirakan pada awal akhir Masehi (sekitar abad ke 2 sampai abad ke 4) di bawa oleh Rsi Agastya.
Agama Budha sendiri mulai masuk ke Indenesia sekitar abad ke-5. Agama Budha itu sendiri berkembang lebih pesat, ini di karenakan agama Budha tidak menghendaki adanya kasta-kasta dalam masyarakat.
Kedua agama tersebut tumbuh dan berkembang secara berdampingan secara damai. Kebudayaan Hindu dan Budha beralkulturasi dengan kebudayaan asli Indonesia yang sebelumnya telah ada. Masa kedua agama tersebut ditandai dengan munculnya banyak kerajaan-kerajaan di Nusantara. Seperti : Kerajaan Kutai, Kerajaan Tarumanegara, Kerajaan Kalingga, Kerajaan Mataram, Kerajaan Kadiri, Kerajaan Singasari dan yang lainnya.
MASUKNYA KEBUDAYAAN INDIA
KE INDONESIA
Mengenai proses masuknya pengaruh kebudayaan Asing (India) ke Indonesia ada beberapa pendapat dan teori. Berdasarkan pendapat dan teori tersebut maka pengaruh kebudayaan Asing ( India) yang berkembang di Indonesia meliputi hal-hal sebagai berikut :
Ø Pengaruh dalam bidang agama yakni agama hindu dan Budha
Ø Pengaruh dalam bidang kesussastraan yakni Ramayana dan Mahabrata
Ø Pengaruh dalam Bidang bangunan yaitu Candi
Ø Pengaruh dalam bidang pengetahuan dan Teknologi yakni pengetahuan kedokteran yang bersumber pada ajur Weda.
Berdasarkan data tersebut diyakini bahwa budaya India masuk ke Indonesia diakibatkan adanya kontak hubungan diantara kedua bangsa tersebut. Hal itu tampak pada perkembangan kebudayaan India di Indonesia tidak menghilangkan unsure-unsur budaya asli Indonesia, bahkan proses akulturasi berjalan sangat harmonis dimana keberadaannya saling melengkapi.
Secara tradisional diyakini bahwa penulisan ajaran agama Hindu lebih mengedepankan pada aspek kearifan local sebagaimana yang terdapat dalam jejak perkembangan agama hindu di masing-masing daerah, salah satunya adalah dengan tidak meninggalkan kebudayaan masyarakat setempat. Bahkan dalam perkembangannya senantiasa mengadakan integrasi nilai-nilai kearifan local yang dimiliki oleh masyarakat.
Daerah dengan local geniusnya secara tidak langsung dimanfaatkan oleh tokoh-tokoh masyarakat untuk mengembangkan ajaran Agama Hindu, selain itu dalam pengembangan ajaran agama peran kebudayaan dan peradaban yang dimiliki oleh masyarakat sangat besar.
Berdasarkan data sejarah bahwa kebudayaan India masuk ke Indonesia kira-kira tahun 400 masehi yakni kurang lebih abad ke V. Ini dibuktikan dengan ditemukannya sebuah Yupa di daerah Kutai Kalimantan Timur. Yupa adalah tiyang batu tempat melaksanakan upacara yadnya yang dilakukan oleh masyarakat pada waktu itu. Dengan ditemukannya Yupa tersebut bahwa masyarakat telah mampu melaksanakan upacara keagamaan secara teratur.
Terkait dengan masuknya pengaruh kebudayaan India ke Indonesia, ada beberapa pendapat dan teori yang menyatakan bahwa proses pengaruh tersebut dilakukan dengan berbagai cara diantaranya adalah:
a. Menurut Krom dalam teori Brahmana menyatakan bahwa yang membawa kebudayaan India ke Indonesia adalah kaum Brahmana. Teori tersebut diatas ada benarnya, karena sebagian besar pengaruh India terutama pengaruh agama dilakukan oleh kaum Brahmana dengan alas an kesucian kaum Brahmana diperbolehkan menyebrangi samudra guna menjalankan misi kebudayaannya.
b. Menurut Krom dalam teori Waisya mangatakan bahwa, masuknya pengaruh kebudayaan India ke Indonesia melalui jalur perdagangan. Ini dibuktikan dengan adanya kontak dan jalur perdagangan diberbagai wilayah yang dilakukan oleh pedagang-pedagang India. Dimana pedagang dari India mendirikan perkampungan dimana hingga kini dapat ditemukan di berbagai wilayah Indonesia.
c. Menurut Mookerjee mengatakan bahwa masuknya agama Hindu ke Indonesia dibawa oleh kaum pedagang India dalam jumlah cukup besar, ini terbukti jalur perdagangan antara kedua Negara cukup ramai. Selain itu pedagang India juga mengajarkan agama kepada penduduk Indonesia yang dijadikan tempat persinggahan untuk berdagang.
d. Menurut Moon dan Bosch mengatakan bahwa peranan kaum kstria sangat besar dalam penyebaran agama hindu dari India ke Indonesia. Para Ksatria tersebut dengan alas an tertentu datang ke Indonesia dan mengajarkan agama kepada penduduk setempat.
e. Menurut Ida Bagus Mantra dalam disertasinya menyatakan bahwa Agama Hindu masuk ke Indonesia adalah di bawa oleh orang-orang Indonesia.
f. Teori baru (evolusi) yakni orang-orang Indonesia datang ke India untuk mempelajari kebudayaan setelah itu mereka kembali ke Indonesia,setelah itu mengajarkan agama Hindu kepada penduduk.
Dari pendapat para ahli tersebut, dimana masing-masing memiliki kelebihan dan kekurangan terhadap teori masuknya kebudayaan India khususnya Agama Hindu ke Indonesia. Akan tetapi konsep yang dikemukakan bahwa agama Hindu masuk ke Indonesia melalui proses diantaranya adalah sebagai berikut :
1. Melalui proses akulturasi
2. Melalui proses integrasi
3. Melalui proses asimilasi
4. Melalui proses fasific fenestration.
Sementara itu ada teori baru yang menyatakan bahwa masuknya agama hindu ke Indonesia dilakukan dengan cara damai dengan memanfaatkan media-media yang ada waktu itu,seperti media pertunjukkan , media aktifitas kebudayaan dan media komunikasi lainnya. Selain itu penyebarannya juga dilakukan oleh orang-orang Indonesia sendiri dengan alas an hanya orang Indonesialah yang paling paham akan keberadaan kebudayaan dan bangsanya sendiri, dengan cara seperti itu pengaruh kebudayaan India dalam waktu singkat dapat diterima oleh masyarakat.
Menurut Brandes sebelum kebudayaan dan agama hindu masuk ke Indonesia. Masyarakat Indonesia telah memiliki kebudayaan dan peradaban cukup tinggi, masyarakat menganut system kepercayaan yang sangat kuat yaitu kepercayaan animism dan dinamisme. Kepercayaan tersebut dikombinasikan atau dipadukan oleh humat Hindu dengan ajaran agama sesuai isi kitab suci weda, tujuannya agar terjadi hubungan harmonis antara system kepercayaan dengan ajaran agama yang akan diperkenalkan di masyarakat.
Adapun jenis-jenis peradaban yang dimiliki oleh bangsa Indonesia sebelum masuknya pengaruh India, di antaranya adalah sebagai berikut :
v Bangsa Indonesia telah mengenal wayang
v Bangsa Indonesia telah mengenal gambelan
v Bangsa Indonesia telah mengenal ilmu pelayaran
v Bangsa Indonesia telah mengenal ilmu pertanian
v Bangsa Indonesia telah mengenal ilmu perbintangan
v Bangsa Indonesia telah mengenal system nenun
v Bangsa Indonesia telah mengenal system membatik
v Bangsa Indonesia telah mengenal system pembuatan logam
v Bangsa Indonesia telah mengenal system komunikasi
v Bangsa Indonesia telah mengenal system ketatanegaraan yang teratur
Dalam perkembangan selanjutnya kebudayaan yang tumbuh dan berkembang dijiwai oleh ajaran-ajaran agama hindu. Akibatnya dalam tingkat peradaban sangat sulit membedakan wilayah agama dengan kebudayaan karena satu dengan yang lainnya sudah saling melengkapi. Jika dicermati secara mendalam bahwa proses masuknya kebudayaan India ke Indonesia dilakukan secara harmonis dan dinamis, dimana artinya adalah kebudayaan yang telah ada dan tumbuh dilingkungan masyarakat nilainya diadopsi kedalam nilai-nilai budaya India sehingga perkembangannya tidak menimbulkan konflik di masyarakat waktu itu.
Untuk lebih jelasnya berikut ini penulis kutipan beberapa materi sejarah Indonesia yang memiliki kaitan dengan dinamika Hindu dalam budaya yakni Agama Hindu dan Budha berasal dari anak benua India. Agama Budha diajarkan oleh Sidharta Gautama di India pada 531 SM. Dimana ayahnya seorang raja bernama Sudhodana dan Ibunya Dewi Maya. Sedangkan Agama Hindu di India berkembang sekitar 1500 SM. Sumber ajaran hindu terdapat dalam kitab sucinya yaitu Weda. Kedua Agama tersebut begitu cepat menyebar ke daerah di sekitar India termasuk Indonesia. Hal tersebut dikarenakan posisi geografis Indonesia terletak di jalur perdagangan yang ramai pada masa itu.
