Banjar kayu puring, Desa Pupuan
Pupuan merupakan nama sebuah Desa yang terletak di ujung barat Kabupaten Tabanan, tepatny di kaki gunung Batukaru. Secara geografis nama Pupuan berasal dari kata “pupu” yang berarti “paha”, karena letaknya di paha gunung Batukaru. Selain itu nama pupuan berasal dari kata “pelupuan” yang berarti “kubangan”, karena memang posisinya dikelilingi oleh dataran tinggi, sehingga nampak seperti kubangan. Dari kedua kata tersebut lah asal mula nama Pupuan.
Desa Pupuan terbagi menjadi 5 banjar, yaitu Banjar Pupuan, Banjar Kubu, Banjar Kayu Padi, Banjar Semoja, Banjar Kayu Puring.
BANJAR KAYU PURING
Banjar kayu puring terletak ddi bagian selatan dari desa Pupuan, dengan jumblah penduduk yang bertempat tinggal di banjar kayupuring dapat dikatakan sedikit, hanya bejumblah 125 Kepa kluarga.
Kata Kayu puring sebenarnya tidak ada artinya, nama tersebut diambil dari nama sebuah pohon besar yang tumbuh di lingkungan banjar, yaitu pohon Kayu Puring.
Penduduk Banjar Kayu Puring Mayoritas beragama Hindu, tetapi ada juga yang beragama Budha, Islam, dan Kristen.
Sistem pemerintahan Banjar di pimpin oleh Kelian Banjar Adat dan kelian Banjar Dinas. Kelian banjar Adat yang berada di bawah naungan Bendesa adat, berperan untuk menggerakkan masyarakat Banjar dalam kegiatan yang berhubungan dengan persoalan-persoalan Upacara adat yang berlangsung di desa Adat maupun Banjar.
Kelian banjar Dinas yang berada di bawah naungan kepala desa, berperan dalam bidang persoalan yang berhubungan dengan pemerintahan, misalnya masalah kependudukan, dll.
Dalam setiap banjar tentunya pasti ada organisasi pemuda dan pemudi banjar, demikian halnya di Banjar kayu puring, terdapat organisasi pemuda dan pemudi yang bernama ST Griya Sentana Sari. Selain itu di banjar kayu Puring juga ada kelompok PKK yang di gerakkan oleh Kelian banjar dinas, dan banjar kayu puring juga memiliki sekhe Baleganjur, dimana anggota dari skhe tersebut semuanya merupakan masyarakat Banjar Kayu puring.
